A Hutch from a local museum, a new painting and a thrift store lamp that refused to be left behind.

I haven't posted in a long time. I think a combination of catching up on chores I had put off until after the art show and wanting to be out in the garden have kept me away from my blog. I have been lurking though! I do a lot of that with my phone. I love reading through the projects and ideas you guys share on the "Cowgirl Up!" linky party. I thank you so much for participating (((♥)))

About once a week I glance at craigslist. Last week I found this hutch. I couldn't believe how adorable it was. It had JUST posted. I think it would have been gone in a heartbeat...the price was LOW. And it is actually two pieces, the bottom piece has a carved East lake backsplash on top that is SOO cool. But until I can find a way to mount the top shelving unit on the wall above it, it will have to stay hidden.
This hutch came out of a local museum! It was built/bought by an early Tomball,TX homesteader.

The patina is an imperfect crackle of sun baked vanilla paint layers , and the wavy old glass in the doors give the hutch a presense in the room, like an old woman sitting there with wrinkles and stories to tell. I had to take this old lady home with me and dress her in old ironstone of course. : )

How perfectly imperfect! She could use a good bath though. Who knows what kind of dirt her wrinkles hide. I like to *imagine* it is the dust that has blown into an open kitchen window from the fields surrounding the old white farmhouse...

This room is still in progress. I STILL have things sitting around waiting to go up, including a window treatment, a huge light fixture that looks like an old metal basket, and an old sign. Hopefully soon I'll have a finished room post to share.

Another "thrifty" item I bought recently was this old little glass lamp. I had seen it at the thrift store many times, hidden on some shelves up high. It was $12, which I don't consider thrifty at all. But they say when you leave something and keep thinking about it, and keep returning to it, it is probably meant to be yours. I'm so glad I did.

I popped in a 15w bulb and tucked her into the corner of this desk in the living room for a soft glow. It's perfect at night.

And lastly here is today's painting... "Dusk from the Porch". It was actually a more abstract piece and when I finished it, I hated it. I reworked it this morning.

So now it is a landscape. Still a bit impressionistic but not so crazy

Welcome to Week 10 of Cowgirl Up! Link Party . .

 Welcome to Week 10 of
 Cowgirl Up! Link Party . . .
the party with a cowgirl can-do  spirit!
1 Party, 4 Blogs

Anita here, and let me say I am loving all of your wonderful links!!      We have all been so busy lately, I hosted a big ranch party, and we are in closing on my MIL's old house next month, so that basically ends all of my duties with her estate.  Amanda has been up to her eyeballs in tulle (perhaps not literally) with the spring wedding season (she does awesome wedding receptions) and Linsey had a big gallery showing recently with her oil paintings.  I'm not sure what Samantha's been up to, except a fab trip to San Francisco so she is not allowed any sympathy.  Okay, just kidding, I am sure she has had some other things going on her life too.

I do love my blogging buddies!!  Yes I talking about my Cowgirl Up buds, but I'm also talking about all of my dear, dear blogging friends, This week, we cowgirls have been talking about why we blog, and we all agree that we love the creative outlet and the friendships we are making along the way.  I hope you know how much we appreciate you sharing your project here.  We are trying to link up as many of your  projects as we can on our Facebook pages to give you maximum exposure.  Glad you are here.

Here's what caught my eye this week...

Knick of Time showed us her heavy metal finds.

White Lace Cottage shared this amazing chair redo.

And I love this DIY Industrial shelving from Anythingology
