Vintage Patriotic Americana-My nod to Veterans

I grew up a military brat. My Dad was a sonar officer on submarines and later a sonar instructor (honored with the Instructor of the Year award for the entire Navy---go Dad!). I've had the opportunity to live all over the U.S., and even Japan. There were sacrifices, but worth it for the amount of pride I feel in saying that my father excelled in such a worthy profession.

Dad

Anyways, I have a special place in my heart for active military and veterans alike. To celebrate them today...let's enjoy some vintage Americana!

*I've also included some pics from the awesome new WWII Nimitz Museum in Frederickburg,TX. Amazing that such a small town has such a huge, gorgeous, interactive techno-rich state of the art museum. If you live in TX you must check it out! Your hubby will love it so much, he won't even notice you've slipped out the back door to go antiquing. : )

No comment on this one. I don't know why my husband was hugging the bomb...I think I wanted him to show scale...

Pictured below is the adorable guest cottge we stayed at in Fredericksburg. So. so. so, darling!

Great, Now i'm reeeaaally wanting to go. If you love old german things, antiques, sweet little streets of shops and cafes with live music in the air, beer, cottages, and farmhouse things...you'll love Fredericksburg,TX.

Attempting my most ambitious painting to date

This is my biggest and most difficult painting to ever attempt. I'm having to take lots of breaks and "step back" to see it with fresh eyes.

Can you tell what it is yet???

I will keep you guys posted as it evolves...
If you are visiting for the first time welcome! I just starting blogging 3 months ago. I am completely "coding" clueless. I really think the creative side of my brain sucks the power out of the analytical side of my brain. I know this blog isn't fancy but hopefully I can make up for it with some creativity and compassion from my computer savvy followers. : D

Almost all of these items are for sale in my booth, including my original oil paintings. I thought I'd feature all my "whites" for White Wednesday at Faded Charm.

*The cake painting is 12"x12" and is $85
*The teapot painting is 10"x10" and is $70

An exciting sidenote...I recently had the opportunity to sell two of my paintings to fellow blogger Anita, at Cedar Hill Ranch, and she featured them here in their new spots in her beautiful home. Please check out her wonderful blog.

I'm on vacation...

...and my computer is collecting dust. But I've been having a ball with my Best friend (visiting me in Houston from New Hampshire). We've been BFF's for 21 years! We've traveled all over the United States to keep in touch through the years and we always pick up where we left off. I treasure that.

Mom, Me, my besty (I'm the one in black. Ha! Actually...I'm the one with sunglasses on my head.)

I hope to do a bunch of painting Wednesday. I'll post pics of what I'm working on. Until then...

Call a friend and tell them how much you love them
